Data protection, in plain words

We deliberately publish no address anywhere on this site: the contact form on the start page is the only channel, and it reaches us directly. Use it for anything to do with this statement, including a request to see, correct or delete your data.

The site is hosted by Hostpoint AG in Switzerland. Like every web server, it writes a log entry for each request: the IP address it came from, the date and time, the page requested, the referring page and the browser's identification string.

Those entries exist so the site can be operated and so attacks and abuse can be recognised. They are not assembled into a picture of an individual visitor and are not combined with any other source. Hostpoint processes them on our behalf and deletes them according to its own retention periods.

The pages use the Poppins and Inter typefaces, which your browser loads from Google Fonts. It therefore requests those files from servers operated by Google and, in doing so, transmits your IP address and the address of the page you are on — including to servers outside Switzerland and the EU. We set no cookie for this and receive nothing back.

If you would rather it did not happen, any browser extension that blocks third-party requests prevents it. The site stays fully readable; only the typeface falls back to the one your system provides.

When you send the form we receive what you typed: your name, your address, the area of interest you picked and your message, plus the language you were reading in. We use them to answer you and for nothing else — no newsletter, no advertising, no passing on to third parties. Your address serves as the reply address and receives an automatic confirmation that the message arrived.

Spam protection. The form carries hidden fields no person can see and records when the page was loaded, which is how a script is told apart from a visitor. To blunt automated mass submissions the server also counts recent submissions per IP address; the address itself is never stored, only an irreversible hash of it, and that expires within an hour. The counters of blocked attempts are totals and contain no personal data.

Inquiries and our replies stay in our mailbox for as long as the business relationship and the statutory retention periods require. Ask us, and we delete what we are allowed to delete.

This site sets no cookies. It runs no analytics service, no tracking pixel and no advertising network, it stores nothing in your browser to recognise you on a later visit, and it builds no visitor profile. There is no cookie banner because there is nothing to consent to.

Apart from the server logs described above, we currently measure nothing about visits. Should that change — a cookieless, privacy-friendly counter is under discussion — this page will say so before it is switched on.

Swiss data protection law (revFADP) and, where it applies, the European GDPR give you the right to ask what data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to have its processing restricted, to object to it, and to receive it in a portable form.

Write to us through the contact form; we answer within a month. You may also complain to a supervisory authority — in Switzerland the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC), in the EU the authority where you live.

We update this page whenever the website changes what it does with data — a measurement tool, a new form, an embedded service. The date at the top tells you which version you are reading. There is no archive of earlier versions; if a change matters to an inquiry you have already sent, ask and we will tell you what applied at the time.
